Why Residential Care?

We believe in best practices in holistic residential care for fatherless and orphaned children. What do we mean?  Residential care covers a broad array of care for children, from residential institutions like orphanages to temporary placement at a children's home for intensive counseling and/or rehabilitation in the context of a surrogate family.  Holistic care involves caring for the whole child: spiritually, physically, emotionally and intellectually.

In Plato’s Dialogues he says something profound about orphans that we believe is true, “He who is the guardian of an orphan…shall love the unfortunate orphan as if he were his own child.”

People with good intentions often support orphan ministries providing substandard care they would find unimaginable for their own child. We have all had the privilege of seeing the difference it makes in the lives of fatherless and orphaned children when they are cared-for well. Allies for Orphans desires to expand excellence in residential care all around the world.
